About Bishopthorpe Road and The Little House
Bishopthorpe Road – affectionately known by locals as Bishy Road – is full of great places to eat, drink and shop. In 2015, this ancient, busy thoroughfare, won a prestigious award in the Great British High Streets competition. Not only did it win the Local Parade category, it was also voted as the Winner of Winners, beating off competition from 230 entries. It’s an area that we recommend you explore – you can get off our bus at one of the stops, have a look around, and get back on later.
Further along the street, between 76 and 78, is 76A Bishopthorpe Road. Known as The Little House, it is possibly the smallest house in York. The holiday home – which has one bedroom and can accommodate two people – was previously the surgery for a doctor who lived in the property next door.
