Our tours start at approximately 9am, a little later in winter. The York CitySightseeing bus runs up to every 15 mins in summer, every 30 mins in winter. Check your stop on the map to see the exact departure times from where you’re waiting.
What languages are the bus tours available in?
Our onboard audio guide is available in multiple languages, including English, Spanish, French, German, Italian, and Mandarin, so you can enjoy the tour in the language you’re most comfortable with. Simply select your language when you board.

Are dogs allowed on the tour?
Yes, of course! Well-behaved dogs are welcome on board. We ask that they are kept under control at all times and do not occupy seats.
Can I bring food and drink on the bus?
You’re welcome to bring food drinks on board, but we kindly ask that you keep a lid on hot drinks and help us keep the buses clean for everyone.
Do I need to book in advance?
You can buy tickets online in advance, from our friendly sales team at the busiest stops, or directly from the driver. Booking ahead is recommended during busy periods to save time and avoid queuing.
What happens if it rains?
We’d love sunshine every day, but we know York’s weather can be unpredictable. Our buses have a covered area so you can stay dry during your tour.
If you’d prefer to come back another day, that’s no problem. With our Rainy Day Guarantee, you have up to 12 months to return and enjoy your tour when the weather’s better.
Is there audio commentary on board?
Yes, all buses offer audio commentary in multiple languages, sharing fascinating facts and stories about York’s history and attractions. On selected departures, you can also enjoy live commentary from one of our knowledgeable guides for an even more engaging experience.
How long is my ticket valid for?
Tickets are typically valid for 24 hours or 48 hours from the time you first board the bus, so you can spread your sightseeing across two days if you wish. You can upgrade to 48 hours if you need a little more time, just let our friendly sales team or your driver know.
How does the hop-on hop-off service work?
You can get on and off the bus at any designated stop along the route as many times as you like within your ticket’s validity period, giving you the freedom to explore at your own pace.
