About St Helen’s Square
This beautiful part of town was seen in Eternal Law, a 2012 series set in York, starring Samuel West. An early scene in this ITV supernatural drama sees the two main characters walking along Coney Street and arriving here at a market in St Helen’s Square. In a later scene, they return to the square from Stonegate, when crowds are fired on by a gunman shooting from the roof of the Mansion House – the red and white building which overlooks the square. Other scenes take place on The Shambles, outside the Crown Court, and inside York Minster.
