About Edible Garden
Planted in July 2015 and funded by Yorventure, the Edible Wood is laid out on principles of permaculture and forest gardening, with serpentine paths winding through light-filled glades. Visitors find unusual edibles — pineapple guava, Szechuan pepper, medlar — alongside familiar herbs, fruits and vegetables. It explores how attractive ornamental plants can also feed us, a quiet experimental corner of the otherwise grand botanical gardens. Visitors should stay on paths and not harvest produce.
