About Merchant Adventurer’s Hall
Visitors walk through the timber-framed Great Hall, the undercroft (which served as a hospital and almshouse for the poor) and the chapel — all still in use by the original guild, the Company of Merchant Adventurers, founded over 660 years ago. The Hall displays guild treasures, silver, paintings and historic documents. It is one of the most complete medieval merchant complexes in Europe and a Grade I listed building.
