About Yorkshire Museum
The museum houses some of Britain’s finest Roman, Anglo-Saxon, Viking and medieval collections, including the Middleham Jewel, the Coppergate Helmet and the Ryedale Hoard. Set in a 19th-century building beside the ruins of St Mary’s Abbey, it also holds one of the country’s best fossil collections, including the Rutland sea dragon. It tells the deep story of Yorkshire from prehistory to the medieval period.
